TypeNanzen-Ji School of Rinzai-shu Sect Temple
AddressTerao 2169, Chichibu city, Saitama Prefecture
DescriptionNo.20 of the Chichibu 34 Pilgrimage Temples.
The Iwanoue-do is located on the cliff top of the Arakawa River.
It has been reported that the principal image (Sei-Kanzeon-Bosatsu or Saint Kanzeon Bodhisattva) was made in the Heian period (794-1192).
It seems that the current Kannon-do building was built in the midst of the Edo period (1603-1868).
When I visited this site on November 18 of 2014, it was at the height of the fall foliage, and, it was so beautiful.
